Will Your Story Continue When Your Playing Coop on Dying Light
Yes, and yes XP saves. One thing will not save is the rock quest in the Following. If you start it you must finish it. Or the the rocks that you have collected. Will reset, meaning you will have to collect them all over again. I heard you can try putting some, of the ones you have collected in place. If you can not finish it. But I never tried doing that, so I can not confirm it.

Not all quests save. Only quests, in which connected players have same or further progress than the host get saved for all. Otherwise you will see crossed floppy disc next to the quest which won´t saved for you.

Thank"s Reginald for the correction. But that problem has never arisen for me in Co op. But I guess anything is possible in this game. Under certain conditions.

The matchmaking won´t show you games who have progressed more % of story (main quest), than you. But as this isn´t checked in case of side quests, it did happen to me during one of them. You´ll still get reward for completing quest, which will get saved as it´s part of your character (items, experience, etc.), but the progress in quest itself won´t be saved for you.
And in case of playing with friends, I didn´t check if game allows you to join a friend (through invitation) who has more % of story finished than you.

So if my friend and I are on the exact same main story quest and we quest it together, it will save?
I reached out of another opinion. To Migel the Sloth.
This is what Migel stated "Well there's a difference between Character, and World progression. You can put your Character in another world, pick up stuff get experience, and that will be saved to your Character. World progression is a fixed to a World. So if you do a quest In someone else's World. Your Character will get the rewards, but it will not progress, the World / Story line, in your own Savegame. tl:dr, Whoever's hosting get's their World, and Character progressed. If you join someone, you only get your Character progressed." Sorry but kinda s__ks.

This is about an old play through. But I just contacted a gamer, I started a new game with. We went all the way up to the following, together. He never told me, he had to replay quest's till now. That I asked him. Yes I hosted since I was online first. he would join in. icnbi.

If both of you would have same progress in the quest, then yes, it will save for both of you.
yall are giving me 2 answers now.. one guy says it will save and the other says it wont lol
Done all the game with my friends, they didn't get all the progress tho, this is kind of bug.
When I played coop with a friend, his progress was saved (he was the party leader), but mine didn't, so I had to start from scratch.
